Types of Insulators on Transmission Lines

The overhead transmission line conductors are bare conductors having no insulation over them. Such conductors need insulation so as to avoid a short between conductors as well as between conductors and ground. For this purpose, insulators are used. An insulator carries conductor as well as provides electrical insulation between pole and conductor.

Types of Insulators Ebook by Digital Library of Electrical and Electronics Engineering presents different types of insulators used in transmission lines as well as their voltage level and applications.
