Y (Wye or Tee) and Delta or (PI) configurations are two special configurations in which electronic components can be arranged. Many times it is important to convert a Wye configuration to delta and vice-versa. Given below is the formula to convert three resistors in Wye configuration to Delta.
An example
Let’s consider a Wye circuit having three resistors:
R (x) = 10 ohms; R (y) = 15 ohms and R (z) = 30 ohms.
R (1) = (Rx . Ry + Ry. Rz + Rx. Rz) / Rx = 900 / 10 = 90 ohms
R (2) = (Rx . Ry + Ry. Rz + Rx. Rz) / Rx = 900 / 15 = 60 ohms
R (3) = (Rx . Ry + Ry. Rz + Rx. Rz) / Rx = 900 / 30 = 30 ohms
So that was all about Wye to Delta conversion formula.
